House Resolution
2A resolution recognizing Joshua Miller, a recipient of the
32005 Prudential Spirit of Community Award.

5     WHEREAS, Joshua Miller, an esteemed resident of Parkland
6and student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, has
7received national recognition as a 2005 recipient of the
8prestigious Prudential Spirit of Community Award, and
9     WHEREAS, presented by Prudential Financial in partnership
10with the National Association of Secondary School Principals,
11this award honors young volunteers across the nation who have
12demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to service in their
13communities, and
14     WHEREAS, giving generously of his time, Mr. Miller
15developed a reading and mentoring after-school program for third
16graders and recruited 45 high school students to participate in
17this highly successful effort that was made possible through
18funding received from Governor Jeb Bush, and
19     WHEREAS, the strength of our communities, the success of
20the State of Florida, and the overall vitality of American
21society depend in great measure upon the dedication of young
22people like Mr. Miller who use their considerable talents and
23resources to serve others, NOW, THEREFORE,

25Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
26Florida:

28     That the House of Representatives congratulates and honors
29Joshua Miller as a worthy recipient of a prestigious Prudential
30Spirit of Community Award for 2005, recognizes his outstanding
31record of volunteer service, community spirit, and peer
32leadership, and extends its best wishes for his continued
33success and happiness.
34     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
35presented to Joshua Miller, recipient of a 2005 Prudential
36Spirit of Community Award, as a tangible token of the sentiments
37expressed herein.
