House Resolution
2A resolution commending Lexington Homes, Inc.
3
4     WHEREAS, not only known throughout the Gulf Coast and
5Central Florida as one of the state's premier homebuilders,
6Lexington Homes, Inc., is gaining national recognition for its
7charitable community efforts made under the banner "Lexington's
8Legacy of Leadership," and
9     WHEREAS, enlisting the aid of other members of the building
10industry, Lexington Homes led in the construction of "Hunter's
11House," which resulted in a sizable contribution to a local
12child's organ transplant fund, and
13     WHEREAS, in partnership with "ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home
14Edition," and with the generous support of numerous businesses,
15Lexington remodeled the home of a husband and father blinded by
16a deranged gunman, not only affording the family spacious,
17energy-efficient, cost-saving living quarters, including a solar
18water heater contributed by Solar Source, TCT Solar, Healey and
19Associates, and Engineering Sunbuilt Program, but also providing
20"Lexie," a companion and guide dog, and
21     WHEREAS, since the completion of its first two projects,
22Lexington has arranged for "One More Makeover: Lexington
23Edition," in which businesses have provided an apartment,
24furniture, television and computer, and cable and internet
25service for two children of a crime victim and, as proven
26typical of the heart of the community, has received overwhelming
27support for a scholarship fund in the name of a young victim who
28was saving for college, and
29     WHEREAS, to date, Lexington has coordinated the gracious
30efforts of 145 companies and 1,100 volunteers in four endeavors
31to help meet the needs of members of the community, NOW,
32THEREFORE,

34Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
35Florida:

37     That Lexington Homes, Inc., its many willing partners in
38business, and thousands of skilled Floridians are commended for
39the outpouring of their means, talents, and time in their
40cooperative efforts to help neighbors in need and are cited as
41examples all Americans would do well to emulate.
42     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
43presented to Dan Bicz of Lexington Homes, Inc., as a tangible
44token of the sentiments expressed herein.
