  1                    Senate Resolution No. ____

  2         A resolution recognizing March 15 and 16, 2005,

  3         as Legislative Massage Therapy Awareness Days.

  4  

  5         WHEREAS, members of the Florida State Massage Therapy

  6  Association and the Florida Chapter of the American Massage

  7  Therapy Association throughout the state are actively involved

  8  in public awareness and health programs to improve the health

  9  and quality of life of Florida residents, and

10         WHEREAS, the Florida State Massage Therapy Association

11  and the Florida Chapter of the American Massage Therapy

12  Association have been holding Legislative Massage Therapy

13  Awareness Days at the Florida Capitol since 1988 for the

14  purpose of educating the State Legislature and the public

15  concerning the many health benefits of massage therapy, and

16         WHEREAS, licensed massage therapists have been licensed

17  and regulated in the State of Florida since 1943, and there

18  are over 23,000 massage therapists licensed by the state, and

19         WHEREAS, massage therapy is a low-cost, high-quality

20  means of enhancing and restoring health, and

21         WHEREAS, increased awareness of the benefits of massage

22  therapy will lead to improved health and vitality of the

23  residents of the State of Florida, and

24         WHEREAS, the Legislature recognizes massage therapy for

25  wellness and preventive health measures, NOW, THEREFORE,

26  

27  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

28  

29         That March 15 and 16, 2005, are recognized as

30  "Legislative Massage Therapy Awareness Days."
