5 | Section 11. Medical care advisory committee.-- |
6 | (1) The Secretary of the Agency for Health Care |
7 | Administration shall appoint a medical care advisory committee |
8 | to advise the agency about the Florida Medicaid program, |
9 | consistent with the requirements of federal law. |
10 | (2) There shall be no less than 15 and no more than 23 |
11 | members on the committee with at least 51 percent of the |
12 | membership consisting of current or former Medicaid recipients |
13 | or their parents or guardians or Medicaid advocates, including |
14 | representatives of special needs populations. The members of the |
15 | advisory committee shall serve without compensation, but shall |
16 | receive reimbursement for per diem and travel expenses incurred |
17 | in connection with committee meeting attendance in accordance |
18 | with s. 112.061, Florida Statutes. |
19 | (3) The committee shall meet not less than quarterly and |
20 | committee members shall be furnished written notice of the |
21 | meetings at least 10 days before the date of the meeting. |
22 | (4) The medical care advisory committee shall be given an |
23 | opportunity to participate in Medicaid policy development, |
24 | advise on program administration, and review and comment upon |
25 | proposed new initiatives pertaining to health care benefits and |
26 | beneficiary eligibility, including, but not limited to, 1115 |
27 | Medicaid Waiver proposals and programs. |
