A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to campaign financing; providing a short
3title; amending s. 106.1405, F.S.; providing limitations
4on the use of funds and prohibiting transfer of funds of
5organizations subject to the requirements of 26 U.S.C. s.
6527; providing an effective date.
8Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
10     Section 1.  This act may be cited as the "Election
11Protection Act."
12     Section 2.  Section 106.1405, Florida Statutes, is amended
13to read:
14     106.1405  Use of campaign funds.--
15     (1)  A candidate or the spouse of a candidate may not use
16funds on deposit in a campaign account of such candidate to
17defray normal living expenses for the candidate or the
18candidate's family, other than expenses actually incurred for
19transportation, meals, and lodging by the candidate or a family
20member during travel in the course of the campaign.
21     (2)(a)  An organization subject to the requirements of 26
22U.S.C. s. 527 may not use funds for any purpose other than the
23purpose or purposes for which such funds were solicited.
24     (b)  An organization subject to the requirements of 26
25U.S.C. s. 527 may not transfer funds to any political committee,
26committee of continuous existence, electioneering communications
27organization, or organization subject to the requirements of 26
28U.S.C. s. 527 or s. 501(c)(4).
29     Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.
