6 | Section 3. The Chief Financial Officer is directed to draw |
7 | a warrant in the sum of $2 million for the purposes provided in |
8 | this act. After March 6, 2006, the Chief Financial Officer is no |
9 | longer authorized to draw a warrant under this section. |
10 | Section 4. The Department of Financial Services shall pay |
11 | the funds appropriated under this act to an insurance company or |
12 | other financial institution admitted and authorized to issue |
13 | annuity contracts in this state and selected by Wilton Dedge, to |
14 | purchase an annuity. The Department of Financial Services is |
15 | directed to execute all necessary agreements to implement this |
16 | act. |
17 | Section 5. Tuition and fees shall be waived for up to a |
18 | total of 120 hours of instruction at any career center |
19 | established pursuant to s. 1001.44, Florida Statutes, at any |
20 | community college established under part III of chapter 1004, |
21 | Florida Statutes, or any state university. For any educational |
22 | benefit made, Wilton Dedge is required to meet and maintain the |
23 | regular admission requirements of, and be registered at, such |
24 | career center, community college, or state university and make |
25 | satisfactory academic progress as defined by the educational |
26 | institution in which the claimant is enrolled. |
27 | Section 6. The Chief Financial Officer shall purchase the |
28 | annuity as required by this act upon delivery by Wilton Dedge to |
29 | the Chief Financial Officer, the Department of Financial |
30 | Services, the President of the Senate, and the Speaker of the |
31 | House of Representatives of all of the following: |
