1 Senate Resolution
2 A resolution recognizing St. Petersburg on
3 being selected one of the One Hundred Best
4 Communities in America for Young People.

6 WHEREAS, this year "America's Promise - The Alliance
7 for Youth" teamed up with Capital One Financial Corporation in
8 a first-ever national competition to identify the best
9 communities in America for young people, and
10 WHEREAS, the criteria by which communities were to be
11 judged included community support of children and youth,
12 resources provided to children and youth in the community, and
13 consequent outcomes for children and youth, and
14 WHEREAS, these criteria were based on the following
15 five promises to children - caring adults, safe places, a
16 healthy start, effective education, and opportunities to help
17 others, and
18 WHEREAS, St. Petersburg met all these criteria to
19 become designated one of the One Hundred Best Communities for
20 Young People in the nation, NOW, THEREFORE,

22 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

24 That the Senate recognizes and commends the
25 achievements of the City of St. Petersburg in providing a
26 caring, safe, healthy, and supportive environment for children
27 and young people and applauds its consequent recognition in
28 receiving this honor.
29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,
30 with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to Mayor
31 Rick Baker of the City of St. Petersburg.
