7 | Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability to |
8 | evaluate compliance with continuing education requirements |
9 | for professionals required to provide their names when |
10 | reporting child abuse, neglect, or abandonment; requiring |
11 | a report to the Governor and Legislature; requiring the |
12 | Department of Health to make available a curriculum; |
13 | providing an effective date. |

15 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |

17 | Section 1. The Office of Program Policy Analysis and |
18 | Government Accountability shall evaluate the continuing |
19 | education requirements related to identifying victims of child |
20 | abuse required for those individuals in the occupational |
21 | categories that are required to provide their names to child |
22 | abuse hotline staff when reporting known or suspected child |
23 | abuse, neglect, or abandonment. The evaluation shall include, |
24 | but not be limited to, an assessment of compliance by profession |
25 | or occupation, whether the training is statutorily required or |
26 | required as a condition for relicensure, recertification, or |
27 | continued employment, and the efficacy of such training. The |
28 | Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability |
29 | shall submit a report to the Governor, the President of the |
30 | Senate, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives by |
31 | December 31, 2006. |
32 | Section 2. Based on the findings of the Office of Program |
33 | Policy Analysis and Government Accountability's report, the |
34 | Division of Prevention and Intervention of the Children's |
35 | Medical Services program of the Department of Health shall make |
36 | available an appropriate child abuse education curriculum to |
37 | professional reporters under s. 39.201(1)(b), Florida Statutes. |
38 | Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2006. |
