6An act relating to child abuse; requiring the Office of
7Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability to
8evaluate compliance with continuing education requirements
9for professionals required to provide their names when
10reporting child abuse, neglect, or abandonment; requiring
11a report to the Governor and Legislature; requiring the
12Department of Health to make available a curriculum;
13providing an effective date.

15Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
16
17     Section 1.  The Office of Program Policy Analysis and
18Government Accountability shall evaluate the continuing
19education requirements related to identifying victims of child
20abuse required for those individuals in the occupational
21categories that are required to provide their names to child
22abuse hotline staff when reporting known or suspected child
23abuse, neglect, or abandonment. The evaluation shall include,
24but not be limited to, an assessment of compliance by profession
25or occupation, whether the training is statutorily required or
26required as a condition for relicensure, recertification, or
27continued employment, and the efficacy of such training. The
28Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability
29shall submit a report to the Governor, the President of the
30Senate, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives by
31December 31, 2006.
32     Section 2.  Based on the findings of the Office of Program
33Policy Analysis and Government Accountability's report, the
34Division of Prevention and Intervention of the Children's
35Medical Services program of the Department of Health shall make
36available an appropriate child abuse education curriculum to
37professional reporters under s. 39.201(1)(b), Florida Statutes.
38     Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.
