A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to child abuse; requiring the Office of
3Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability to
4evaluate compliance with continuing education requirements
5for professionals required to provide their names when
6reporting child abuse, neglect, or abandonment; requiring
7a report to the Governor and Legislature; requiring the
8Department of Health to make available a curriculum;
9providing an effective date.

11Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13     Section 1.  The Office of Program Policy Analysis and
14Government Accountability shall evaluate the continuing
15education requirements related to identifying victims of child
16abuse required for those individuals in the occupational
17categories that are required to provide their names to child
18abuse hotline staff when reporting known or suspected child
19abuse, neglect, or abandonment. The evaluation shall include,
20but not be limited to, an assessment of compliance by profession
21or occupation, whether the training is statutorily required or
22required as a condition for relicensure, recertification, or
23continued employment, and the efficacy of such training. The
24Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability
25shall submit a report to the Governor, the President of the
26Senate, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives by
27December 31, 2006.
28     Section 2.  Based on the findings of the Office of Program
29Policy Analysis and Government Accountability's report, the
30Division of Prevention and Intervention of the Children's
31Medical Services program of the Department of Health shall make
32available an appropriate child abuse education curriculum to
33professional reporters under s. 39.201(1)(b), Florida Statutes.
34     Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.
