  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to land acquisition; amending

  3         ss. 259.105 and 373.470, F.S.; eliminating

  4         obsolete provisions relating to the

  5         distribution of funds in the Florida Forever

  6         Trust Fund; providing an effective date.

  7  

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9  

10         Section 1.  Subsection (11) of section 259.105, Florida

11  Statutes, is amended to read:

12         259.105  The Florida Forever Act.--

13         (11)  For the purposes of funding projects pursuant to

14  paragraph (3)(a), the Secretary of Environmental Protection

15  shall ensure that each water management district receives the

16  following percentage of funds annually:

17         (a)  Thirty-five percent to the South Florida Water

18  Management District, of which amount $25 million for 2 years

19  beginning in fiscal year 2000-2001 shall be transferred by the

20  Department of Environmental Protection into the Save Our

21  Everglades Trust Fund and shall be used exclusively to

22  implement the comprehensive plan under s. 373.470.

23         (b)  Twenty-five percent to the Southwest Florida Water

24  Management District.

25         (c)  Twenty-five percent to the St. John's River Water

26  Management District.

27         (d)  Seven and one-half percent to the Suwannee River

28  Water Management District.

29         (e)  Seven and one-half percent to the Northwest

30  Florida Water Management District.

 1         Section 2.  Subsection (5) of section 373.470, Florida

 2  Statutes, is amended to read:

 3         373.470  Everglades restoration.--

 4         (5)  SAVE OUR EVERGLADES TRUST FUND SUPPLEMENTED.--

 5         (a)1.  For fiscal year 2000-2001, $50 million of state

 6  funds shall be deposited into the Save Our Everglades Trust

 7  Fund created by s. 373.472.

 8         (b)2.  For each year of the 9 consecutive years

 9  beginning with fiscal year 2001-2002, $75 million of state

10  funds shall be deposited into the Save Our Everglades Trust

11  Fund created by s. 373.472.

12         (c)3.  As an alternative to paragraph (b) subparagraph

13  2., proceeds of bonds issued under s. 215.619 may be deposited

14  into the Save Our Everglades Trust Fund created under s.

15  373.472.  To enhance flexibility, funds to be deposited into

16  the Save Our Everglades Trust Fund may consist of any

17  combination of state funds and Everglades restoration bonds.

18         (b)  For each year of the 2 consecutive years beginning

19  with fiscal year 2000-2001, the department shall deposit $25

20  million of the funds allocated to the district by the

21  department under s. 259.105(11)(a) into the Save Our

22  Everglades Trust Fund created by s. 373.472.

23         Section 3.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

24  law.
