  1                      A bill to be entitled
  2         An act relating to certification of court
  3         interpreters; requiring the Supreme Court to
  4         establish standards and procedures for training
  5         and certifying court interpreters; requiring
  6         that the Supreme Court set fees for
  7         certification; specifying that the fees from
  8         applicants for certification as court
  9         interpreters be deposited into the Grants and
10         Donations Trust Fund within the state courts
11         system; providing an effective date.

13  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
14  
15         Section 1.  The Supreme Court shall establish minimum
16  standards and procedures for qualifications, certification,
17  professional conduct, discipline, and training of court
18  interpreters who are appointed by a court of competent
19  jurisdiction.  The Supreme Court may set fees to be charged to
20  applicants for certification and renewal of certification.
21  The revenues generated from these fees shall be used to
22  partially offset the costs of administering the certification
23  process and shall be deposited into the Grants and Donations
24  Trust Fund within the state courts system.  The Supreme Court
25  may appoint or employ such personnel as are necessary to
26  assist the court in administering this section.
27         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.
