7 | "Jeffrey Klapatch Act"; amending s. 322.20, F.S.; |
8 | providing for the Division of Driver Licenses of the |
9 | Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to |
10 | implement a system that provides the parents or guardian |
11 | of a minor or the adult who signed a minor's application |
12 | for a driver's license with Internet access to the driver |
13 | history record of the minor; providing that no fee will be |
14 | charged for such access; providing for termination of such |
15 | access; providing an effective date. |

17 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
18 |

19 | Section 1. This act may be cited as the "Jeffrey Klapatch |
20 | Act." |
21 | Section 2. Subsections (13), (14), and (15) of section |
22 | 322.20, Florida Statutes, are renumbered as subsections (14), |
23 | (15), and (16), respectively, and a new subsection (13) is added |
24 | to that section to read: |
25 | 322.20 Records of the department; fees; destruction of |
26 | records.-- |
27 | (13) The Division of Driver Licenses shall implement a |
28 | system that allows either parent of a minor, or a guardian, or |
29 | other responsible adult who signed a minor's application for a |
30 | driver's license to have Internet access through a secure |
31 | website to inspect the minor's driver history record. Internet |
32 | access to driver history records granted to a minor's parents, |
33 | guardian, or other responsible adult shall be furnished by the |
34 | department at no fee and shall terminate when the minor attains |
35 | 18 years of age. |
36 | Section 3. This act shall take effect January 1, 2007. |
