A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to the City of Bradenton Beach, Manatee
3County; amending chapter 28915, Laws of Florida, 1953;
4amending the city's boundaries; authorizing the city to
5exercise its law enforcement authority 500 feet into the
6waters of the Gulf of Mexico adjacent to its established
7corporate limits and within Sarasota Bay from the eastern
8municipal boundary of the city to the west right-of-way
9line of the Intracoastal Waterway; providing an effective
10date.

12Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
13
14     Section 1.  Section 6 of Article I of chapter 28915, Laws
15of Florida, 1953, is amended to read:

ARTICLE I
17
GENERAL PROVISIONS
18     Section 6.  (1)(a)  The boundaries of the area which shall
19be included in the territory of the City of Bradenton Beach, in
20Manatee County, Florida, shall be as follows:

22All lands on Anna Maria Island lying south of a line
23with a point of beginning at the intersection of
24Sarasota Bay (Intracoastal Waterway) and the southerly
25boundary of Sunrise Park Re-Plat (Plat Book 11, Page
2694 of the Public Records of Manatee County, Florida)
27thence continuing westerly along the southerly
28boundary thereof and its westerly extension and the
29southerly boundary of Sunrise Park (Plat Book 10, Page
3031 of the Public Records of Manatee County, Florida)
31and its westerly extension thereof and along the south
32line of Block 33, Lots 20 and 1 of Ilexhurst
33Subdivision (Plat Book 1, Page 154 of the Public
34Records of Manatee County, Florida) to the west right-
35of-way line of State Road 789 (also known as Gulf
36Drive); thence northerly along the west right-of-way
37line of said State Road 789 (Gulf Drive) approximately
3850 feet; thence westerly approximately 100 feet along
39the south line of former Block 34, Lot 19 of Ilexhurst
40Subdivision (Plat Book 1, Page 154 of the Public
41Records of Manatee County, Florida); thence northerly
42approximately 100 feet along the west line of former
43Block 34, Lots 19 and 18 of said Ilexhurst Subdivision
44(this portion of Ilexhurst Subdivision is now re-
45platted as Ocean Park Terrace Condominium Book 12,
46Page 161 of the Public Records of Manatee County,
47Florida); thence westerly along the north line of
48Ocean Park Terrace (Condominium Book 12, Page 161 of
49the Public Records of Manatee County, Florida) and its
50westerly extension to the shoreline of the Gulf of
51Mexico; thence southerly along the shoreline of the
52Gulf of Mexico to the southern terminus of Anna Maria
53Island; thence easterly around the southerly tip of
54Anna Maria Island; thence northerly along the
55shoreline of Anna Maria Island including United States
56Government Lot #1, Section 10-35-26 (Coffee Shell
57Island) to the point of beginning.

59Such property otherwise described as Anna Maria Island
60lying south of the Holmes Beach city limits.

62     (b)  Additionally, upon approval by the City Commission,
63the municipal boundary of the City shall be automatically
64expanded to include an area adjacent and contiguous to the
65current city boundary within Sarasota Bay and designated as the
66Bradenton Beach Mooring Field, more specifically described as:

68Beginning at the intersection of the centerline of 8th
69Street South and Sarasota Bay (Intracoastal Waterway)
70thence run east a distance of 1,500.00 feet; thence
71northerly parallel to the Intracoastal Waterway
72Channel to a point on the southerly right-of-way line
73of Cortez Road; thence westerly along said southerly
74right-of-way line a distance of 1,400.00 feet to the
75mean high water line of Sarasota Bay (Intracoastal
76Waterway); thence southerly along the mean high water
77line of said Sarasota Bay (Intracoastal Waterway) to
78the point of beginning.

80Lying and being in Sections 3, 4, 9 and 10, Township
8135 South, Range 16 East, Manatee County, Florida.
82All lands on Anna Maria Key lying South of the South
83Boundary of the Subdivision of Ilexhurst as recorded
84in Plat Book 1 Page 154 of the Public Records of
85Manatee County, Florida; said line being the Northern
86Boundary line of Township Thirty-five (35) South,
87Range Sixteen (16) East, Manatee County, Florida.

89     (c)  Provided, however, that the said City shall have the
90power to change its boundaries in the manner hereinafter or as
91authorized otherwise by the laws of the State of Florida
92provided.
93     (2)  The City of Bradenton Beach, Manatee County, is
94authorized to exercise its law enforcement authority 500 feet
95into the waters of the Gulf of Mexico adjacent to its
96established corporate limits and within Sarasota Bay from the
97eastern municipal boundary of the City to the west right-of-way
98line of the Intracoastal Waterway.
99     Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
