  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to nonindigenous flora or

  3         fauna; prohibiting the Department of

  4         Agriculture and Consumer Services and the

  5         Department of Environmental Protection from

  6         issuing a permit authorizing the importation of

  7         nonindigenous flora or fauna; providing an

  8         effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11  

12         Section 1.  In exercising responsibility under state

13  law to grant or deny permits governing the importation of

14  flora or fauna into this state, the Department of Agriculture

15  and Consumer Services and the Department of Environmental

16  Protection shall, notwithstanding any other provision of law,

17  prohibit the importation of nonindigenous flora or fauna.

18         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.
