11 | requiring the Dan Marino Foundation, Inc., to develop |
12 | certification requirements and a training curriculum and |
13 | to submit the certification requirements to the Department |
14 | of Health for review; providing deadlines for |
15 | certification; providing a contingent effective date. |

17 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
18 |

19 | Section 1. Section 514.072, Florida Statutes, is created |
20 | to read: |
21 | 514.072 Certification of swimming instructors for people |
22 | who have developmental disabilities required.--Any person |
23 | working at a swimming pool who holds himself or herself out as a |
24 | swimming instructor specializing in training people who have |
25 | developmental disabilities, as defined in s. 393.063(10), may be |
26 | certified by the Dan Marino Foundation, Inc., in addition to |
27 | being certified under s. 514.071. The Dan Marino Foundation, |
28 | Inc., must develop certification requirements and a training |
29 | curriculum for swimming instructors for people who have |
30 | developmental disabilities and must submit the certification |
31 | requirements to the Department of Health for review by January |
32 | 1, 2007. A person certified under s. 514.071 before July 1, |
33 | 2007, must meet the additional certification requirements of |
34 | this section before January 1, 2008. A person certified under s. |
35 | 514.071 on or after July 1, 2007, must meet the additional |
36 | certification requirements of this section within 6 months after |
37 | receiving certification under s. 514.071. |
38 | Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2006, only |
39 | if a specific appropriation to the Department of Health to fund |
40 | the Dan Marino Foundation, Inc., is made in the General |
41 | Appropriations Act for fiscal year 2006-2007. |
