  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the Florida Building Code;

  3         authorizing the Florida Building Commission to

  4         amend wind-design standards in the code for a

  5         specified area of the state; expressly

  6         superseding a provision; providing an effective

  7         date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10  

11         Section 1.  (1)  Notwithstanding section 109 of chapter

12  2000-141, Laws of Florida, or any other provision of law to

13  the contrary, the Florida Building Commission may amend the

14  wind-design standards established under subsection (3) of

15  section 109 of chapter 2000-141, Laws of Florida, which are

16  applicable to construction in this state, as adopted in the

17  Florida Building Code.

18         (2)  Subsection (3) of section 109 of chapter 2000-141,

19  Laws of Florida, is expressly superseded by this act.

20         (3)  Notwithstanding s. 533.73, Florida Statutes, the

21  commission may amend the Florida Building Code, subject only

22  to the rule-adoption procedures of chapter 120, Florida

23  Statutes.

24         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.
