11 The Committee on Health Care (Peaden) recommended the
12 following amendment:

14 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
15 On page 12, between lines 24 and 25,

17 insert:
18 Section 8. The Division of Health Access and Tobacco
19 of the Department of Health shall analyze the distribution of
20 Florida-licensed dentists by geographic location using data
21 that are available from public and private sources and
22 identify areas of the state where there are shortages of
23 dentists. The division shall determine whether such dentists
24 are retired or working full-time and whether they are also
25 licensed as a medical or osteopathic physician. The division
26 shall submit a preliminary report to the Governor, the
27 President of the Senate, and the Speaker of the House of
28 Representatives by March 1, 2007, which identifies the
29 distribution of Florida-licensed dentists by geographic
30 location, indicates the number of dentists who are also
31 licensed as a medical or osteopathic physician, indicates

1 whether Florida-licensed dentists are retired or working
2 full-time, and recommends strategies to improve access to
3 dentists in areas of the state where there is a shortage of
4 dentists. The division shall submit a final report to the
5 presiding officer of each house in the Legislature and the
6 Governor by March 1, 2008.

13 On page 1, lines 2-16, delete those lines

15 and insert:
16 An act relating to health care practitioners;
17 creating s. 381.0304, F.S.; requiring the
18 Division of Health Access and Tobacco within
19 the Department of Health to monitor, evaluate,
20 and report on the supply and distribution of
21 physicians and osteopathic physicians in
22 Florida; amending ss. 458.311, 458.313, F.S.;
23 requiring applicants for physician licensure to
24 submit core credentials to the Federation of
25 State Medical Boards for verification;
26 reenacting s. 458.347(7)(b), F.S., relating to
27 physician assistants, in order to incorporate
28 the amendment to s. 458.311, F.S., in a
29 reference thereto; amending ss. 458.316,
30 458.3165, 458.317, F.S.; conforming
31 cross-references; requiring the Division of
