  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to license plates; amending ss.

  3         320.08056 and 320.08058, F.S.; creating an

  4         Organ Donor Awareness license plate; providing

  5         for the distribution of annual use fees

  6         received from the sale of such plates;

  7         providing an effective date.

  8  

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10  

11         Section 1.  Paragraph (fff) is added to subsection (4)

12  of section 320.08056, Florida Statutes, to read:

13         320.08056  Specialty license plates.--

14         (4)  The following license plate annual use fees shall

15  be collected for the appropriate specialty license plates:

16         (fff)  Organ Donor Awareness license plate, $25.

17         Section 2.  Subsection (58) is added to section

18  320.08058, Florida Statutes, to read:

19         320.08058  Specialty license plates.--

20         (58)  ORGAN DONOR AWARENESS LICENSE PLATES.--

21         (a)  The department shall develop an Organ Donor

22  Awareness license plate as provided in this section. The word

23  "Florida" must appear at the top of the plate, and the words

24  "Organ Donor Awareness" must appear at the bottom of the

25  plate.

26         (b)  The annual use fees shall be distributed to

27  Transplant Foundation, Inc., a tax-exempt organization under

28  s. 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code which is affiliated

29  with the University of Miami School of Medicine. Transplant

30  Foundation, Inc. shall use the proceeds to provide patient

31  services, including maintaining Transplant House and providing

 1  grants to transplant patients, educating the public on the

 2  importance of organ donation, and funding transplant research.

 3         Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.
