  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to license plates; amending ss.

  3         320.08056 and 320.08058, F.S.; creating a

  4         Donate Organs-Pass It On license plate;

  5         providing for the distribution of annual use

  6         fees received from the sale of such plates;

  7         providing an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10  

11         Section 1.  Paragraph (fff) is added to subsection (4)

12  of section 320.08056, Florida Statutes, to read:

13         320.08056  Specialty license plates.--

14         (4)  The following license plate annual use fees shall

15  be collected for the appropriate specialty license plates:

16         (fff)  Donate Organs-Pass It On license plate, $25.

17         Section 2.  Subsection (58) is added to section

18  320.08058, Florida Statutes, to read:

19         320.08058  Specialty license plates.--

20         (58)  DONATE ORGANS-PASS IT ON LICENSE PLATES.--

21         (a)  The department shall develop a Donate Organs-Pass

22  It On license plate as provided in this section. The word

23  "Florida" must appear at the top of the plate, and the words

24  "Donate Organs-Pass It On" must appear at the bottom of the

25  plate.

26         (b)  The annual use fees shall be distributed to

27  Transplant Foundation, Inc., a tax-exempt organization under

28  s. 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code which is affiliated

29  with the University of Miami School of Medicine. Transplant

30  Foundation, Inc., shall use 100 percent of the proceeds to

31  provide patient services, including preoperative,

 1  rehabilitative, and housing assistance, organ donor education

 2  and awareness programs, and medical research.

 3         Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.

 5          STATEMENT OF SUBSTANTIAL CHANGES CONTAINED IN
                       COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR
 6                         Senate Bill 1450

 8  This CS fixes a technical error and provides for 100 percent
    of the proceeds collected from the sale of "Donate Organs-Pass
 9  It On" specialty license plates to be distributed to the
    Transplant Foundation, Inc., for the purposes of providing
10  patient services and medical research.
