  2         An act relating to license plates; amending ss.

  3         320.08056 and 320.08058, F.S.; creating a

  4         Donate Organs-Pass It On license plate;

  5         providing for the distribution of annual use

  6         fees received from the sale of such plates;

  7         providing an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10  

11         Section 1.  Paragraph (fff) is added to subsection (4)

12  of section 320.08056, Florida Statutes, to read:

13         320.08056  Specialty license plates.--

14         (4)  The following license plate annual use fees shall

15  be collected for the appropriate specialty license plates:

16         (fff)  Donate Organs-Pass It On license plate, $25.

17         Section 2.  Subsection (58) is added to section

18  320.08058, Florida Statutes, to read:

19         320.08058  Specialty license plates.--

20         (58)  DONATE ORGANS-PASS IT ON LICENSE PLATES.--

21         (a)  The department shall develop a Donate Organs-Pass

22  It On license plate as provided in this section. The word

23  "Florida" must appear at the top of the plate, and the words

24  "Donate Organs-Pass It On" must appear at the bottom of the

25  plate.

26         (b)  The annual use fees shall be distributed to

27  Transplant Foundation, Inc., and shall use up to 10 percent of

28  the proceeds from the annual use fee for marketing and

29  administrative costs that are directly associated with the

30  management and distribution of the proceeds. The remaining

31  proceeds shall be used to provide statewide grants for patient

 1  services, including preoperative, rehabilitative, and housing

 2  assistance, organ donor education and awareness programs, and

 3  statewide medical research.

 4         Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.
