  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to assessments by the property

  3         appraiser; amending s. 193.023, F.S.; providing

  4         property appraisers with additional methods for

  5         inspecting real property for assessment

  6         purposes in addition to physical inspections;

  7         reducing the required frequency of physical

  8         inspections; providing an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11  

12         Section 1.  Subsection (2) of section 193.023, Florida

13  Statutes, is amended to read:

14         193.023  Duties of the property appraiser in making

15  assessments.--

16         (2)  In making his or her assessment of the value of

17  real property, the property appraiser is required to review,

18  as the property appraiser deems necessary, current satellite

19  imagery, aerial photographs, or similar imagery, if available,

20  and inspect physically inspect the property every 5 3 years to

21  ensure that the tax roll meets all the requirements of law.

22  However, the property appraiser shall physically inspect any

23  parcel of taxable real property upon the request of the

24  taxpayer or owner.

25         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

26  law.

29                          SENATE SUMMARY

30    Authorizes a property appraiser to use additional methods
      to inspect real property. Requires that the appraiser
31    physically inspect the property every 5 years rather than
      every 3 years.
