  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to national forests and state

  3         parks; repealing s. 790.11, F.S., relating to a

  4         prohibition against carrying a firearm in a

  5         national forest without a permit except during

  6         hunting season; repealing s. 790.12, F.S.,

  7         which authorizes a board of county

  8         commissioners to grant certain exceptions to

  9         the prohibition against carrying a firearm in a

10         national forest; repealing s. 790.14, F.S.,

11         relating to a penalty imposed for unlawfully

12         carrying a firearm in a national forest;

13         requiring that the Department of Environmental

14         Protection repeal a rule prohibiting hunting,

15         trapping, or the pursuit of wildlife within a

16         state park; providing an effective date.

18  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

19  

20         Section 1.  Sections 790.11, 790.12, and 790.14,

21  Florida Statutes, are repealed.

22         Section 2.  The Department of Environmental Protection

23  shall repeal rule 62D-2.014(10), Florida Administrative Code.

24         Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.

 2                          SENATE SUMMARY

 3    Repeals the law that prohibits a person from carrying a
      firearm in a national forest without a permit except
 4    during hunting season. Repeals provisions that authorize
      a county commission to grant exceptions to the
 5    prohibition and that impose a penalty for unlawfully
      carrying a firearm in a national forest. Requires that
 6    the Department of Environmental Protection repeal a rule
      that prohibits hunting, trapping, or the pursuit of
 7    wildlife within a state park.
