  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to psychological services;

  3         creating s. 490.0149, F.S.; specifying the

  4         circumstances in which a psychologist may hold

  5         himself or herself out as a board-certified

  6         specialist or diplomate or offer specific types

  7         of services; providing an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10  

11         Section 1.  Section 490.0149, Florida Statutes, is

12  created to read:

13         490.0149  Specialties.--A psychologist licensed under

14  this chapter may not hold himself or herself out as a

15  board-certified specialist or diplomate unless the

16  psychologist has received formal recognition as a specialist

17  or diplomate from a specialty board of the American Board of

18  Professional Psychology, Inc., or other recognizing agency

19  deemed equivalent by the board. However, a licensed

20  psychologist may indicate the services offered and may state

21  that his or her practice is limited to one or more types of

22  services when this accurately reflects the scope of practice

23  of the psychologist.

24         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.
