6An act relating to the practice of interior design;
7amending s. 481.223, F.S.; authorizing retired interior
8designers to use the title "interior designer, retired";
9prohibiting a person from performing certain acts without
10employing a registered interior designer; providing an
11effective date.

13Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
14
15     Section 1.  Subsection (1) of section 481.223, Florida
16Statutes, is amended to read:
17     481.223  Prohibitions; penalties; injunctive relief.--
18     (1)  A person may not knowingly:
19     (a)  Practice architecture unless the person is an
20architect or a registered architect;
21     (b)  Practice interior design unless the person is a
22registered interior designer unless otherwise exempted herein.
23However, a licensed interior designer who relinquishes or does
24not renew his or her license may use the title "interior
25designer, retired" but may not render any interior design
26services;
27     (c)  Use the name or title "architect" or "registered
28architect," or "interior designer" or "registered interior
29designer," or words to that effect, when the person is not then
30the holder of a valid license issued pursuant to this part;
31     (d)  Present as his or her own the license of another;
32     (e)  Give false or forged evidence to the board or a member
33thereof;
34     (f)  Use or attempt to use an architect or interior
35designer license that has been suspended, revoked, or placed on
36inactive or delinquent status;
37     (g)  Employ unlicensed persons to practice architecture or
38interior design; or
39     (h)  Conceal information relative to violations of this
40part; or.
41     (i)  Use an unlicensed individual to provide engineering or
42architectural services, plumbing or electrical work, landscape
43services, or other work requiring a licensed professional if the
44work is performed for an interior design construction contract
45administered by a registered interior designer or by a
46registered interior designer performing project management or
47oversight as the owner's representative.
48     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.
