6An act relating to the practice of architecture and
7interior design; amending s. 481.203, F.S.; providing a
8definition; amending s. 481.205, F.S.; authorizing the
9Board of Architecture and Interior Design to establish
10rules relating to responsible supervising control;
11amending s. 481.223, F.S.; authorizing retired architects
12and interior designers to use the title "architect,
13retired" and "interior designer, retired," respectively;
14providing an effective date.

16Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
17
18     Section 1.  Subsection (16) is added to section 481.203,
19Florida Statutes, to read:
20     481.203  Definitions.--As used in this part:
21     (16)  "Responsible supervising control" means the exercise
22of direct personal supervision and control throughout the
23preparation of documents, instruments of service, or any other
24work requiring the seal and signature of a person licensed under
25this part.
26     Section 2.  Subsection (4) is added to section 481.205,
27Florida Statutes, to read:
28     481.205  Board of Architecture and Interior Design.--
29     (4)  The board, by rule, may establish minimum procedures,
30documentation, and other requirements to evidence the exercise
31of responsible supervising control by a person licensed under
32this part in connection with work performed both inside and
33outside the licensee's office.
34     Section 3.  Paragraphs (a) and (b) of subsection (1) of
35section 481.223, Florida Statutes, are amended to read:
36     481.223  Prohibitions; penalties; injunctive relief.--
37     (1)  A person may not knowingly:
38     (a)  Practice architecture unless the person is an
39architect or a registered architect. However, a licensed
40architect who relinquishes or does not renew his or her license
41may use the title "architect, retired" but may not render any
42architectural services;
43     (b)  Practice interior design unless the person is a
44registered interior designer unless otherwise exempted herein.
45However, a licensed interior designer who relinquishes or does
46not renew his or her license may use the title "interior
47designer, retired" but may not render any interior design
48services;
49     Section 4.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.
