  2         An act relating to motor vehicle license

  3         plates; amending s. 320.0846, F.S.; removing

  4         expiration of provisions for free license

  5         plates to active members of the Florida

  6         National Guard; providing an effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9  

10         Section 1.  Section 320.0846, Florida Statutes, is

11  amended to read:

12         320.0846  Free motor vehicle license plates to active

13  members of the Florida National Guard.--

14         (1)  Any owner or lessee of a motor vehicle who resides

15  in this state and is an active member of the Florida National

16  Guard may, upon application and proof of eligibility, be

17  issued one standard license plate without charge. Applications

18  for any additional license plates must be accompanied by

19  appropriate fees established in this chapter.

20         (2)  Eligible applicants of the Florida National Guard

21  may apply for a specialty license plate as provided in s.

22  320.08056 upon payment of the fees required in that section.

23  All other fees will be waived. Applications for any additional

24  specialty license plates must be accompanied by all

25  appropriate fees established in this chapter.

26         (3)  This section expires July 1, 2006.

27         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

28  law.
