  1                        Senate Resolution

  2         A resolution commending the osteopathic

  3         physicians of this state and recognizing April

  4         19, 2006, as "Osteopathic Medicine Day."

  5  

  6         WHEREAS, osteopathic physicians provide health care

  7  services that account for more than 100 million patient visits

  8  in this country each year, and

  9         WHEREAS, this state has nine accredited osteopathic

10  hospitals, two osteopathic medical colleges, and the fourth

11  largest osteopathic physician population in the United States,

12  and

13         WHEREAS, osteopathic manipulation of the

14  musculoskeletal system is a viable and proven technique for

15  many diagnoses and treatments and provides an alternative to

16  many drug therapies, and

17         WHEREAS, osteopathic physicians provide comprehensive

18  medical care, including preventive medicine, diagnoses, and

19  the appropriate use of drugs, surgery, manipulation, and

20  hospital referrals, NOW, THEREFORE,

21  

22  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

23  

24         That the Florida Senate commends the osteopathic

25  physicians of this state for their contributions to the health

26  and welfare of the residents of this state and recognizes

27  April 19, 2006, as "Osteopathic Medicine Day."
