  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to historic buildings;

  3         prohibiting the unlawful destruction of

  4         buildings having historical, architectural, or

  5         archaeological value; providing penalties;

  6         providing an effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9  

10         Section 1.  A person who unlawfully tears down or

11  otherwise destroys a building in this state which has

12  historical, architectural, or archaeological value relating to

13  the history, government, or culture of this state commits a

14  felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s.

15  775.082 or s. 775.084, Florida Statutes, and by a fine of

16  $10,000.

17         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.
