  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the Florida Recreation

  3         Development Assistance Program; amending s.

  4         375.075, F.S.; requiring the Department of

  5         Environmental Protection to adopt by rule a

  6         program to provide funding for boundless

  7         playgrounds; defining the term "boundless

  8         playground"; providing an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11  

12         Section 1.  Subsection (4) is added to section 375.075,

13  Florida Statutes, to read:

14         375.075  Outdoor recreation; financial assistance to

15  local governments.--

16         (4)  The department shall adopt, by rule, an additional

17  program consistent with the requirements of this section to

18  provide funding for boundless playgrounds. A boundless

19  playground is defined as a playground that is a barrier-free

20  environment designed for children of all abilities, including

21  those with physical, developmental, cognitive, and sensory

22  disabilities, to experience independent, self-directed play,

23  each at his or her own highest level of ability, and includes

24  play components and equipment that are accessible and engage

25  children who have various motor impairments.

26         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

27  law.
