2 An act relating to the Florida Recreation
3 Development Assistance Program; amending s.
4 375.075, F.S.; revising the number of grant
5 applications that a local government is
6 authorized to submit; revising the amount of
7 money in state funds which may be granted for a
8 project application; providing an effective
9 date.

11 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13 Section 1. Subsection (3) of section 375.075, Florida
14 Statutes, is amended, and subsection (4) is added to that
15 section, to read:
16 375.075 Outdoor recreation; financial assistance to
17 local governments.--
18 (3) A local government may submit up to three two
19 grant applications during each application period announced by
20 the department. However, a local government may not have more
21 than three active projects expending grant funds during any
22 state fiscal year. The maximum project grant for each project
23 application may not exceed $500,000 $200,000 in state funds.
24 (4) The department shall adopt by rule a determination
25 of the appropriate incentive for encouraging the construction
26 of inclusive playgrounds. As used in this subsection, the term
27 "inclusive playground" means a playground that is a
28 barrier-free environment designed for children of all
29 abilities, including those with physical, developmental,
30 cognitive, and sensory disabilities, to experience
31 independent, self-directed play, each at his or her own

1 highest level of ability, and includes play components and
2 equipment that are accessible and engage children who have
3 various motor impairments.
4 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
5 law.

COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR

10 The committee substitute allows a local government to submit
up to three grant applications under the Florida Recreation
11 Development Assistance Program during each application period
instead of two. The maximum project grant amount for each
12 project application is increased from $200,000 to $500,000.
13 The Department of Environmental Protection shall adopt, by
rule, a determination of the appropriate incentive for
14 encouraging the construction of inclusive playgrounds. Defines
"inclusive playground."
