11 The Committee on Regulated Industries (Wise) recommended the
12 following amendment to amendment (345568):

14 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
15 On page 3, between lines 7 and 8,
16
17 insert:
18 Section 4. Subsection (5) is added to section 489.516,
19 Florida Statutes, to read:
20 489.516 Qualifications to practice; restrictions;
21 prerequisites.--
22 (5) Notwithstanding any other provision to the
23 contrary, a certified electrical contractor, registered alarm
24 system contractor I, registered alarm system contractor II, or
25 alarm system contractor I or alarm system contractor II that
26 is a certified alarm system contractor is exempt from any
27 local law, ordinance, or code that requires a contractor to be
28 listed or placarded by a nationally recognized testing
29 laboratory or to be certified by any regionally or nationally
30 recognized certification organization. However, a county,
31 municipality, or special district may require any such

1 electrical contractor or alarm system contractor to provide,
2 at the final inspection of a fire alarm system, the
3 documentation required by NFPA No. 72, "National Fire Alarm
4 Code," for installation and monitoring. This subsection does
5 not prohibit a county, municipality, or special district from
6 requiring compliance with the Florida Fire Prevention Code or
7 with NFPA No. 72.

11 And the title is amended as follows:
12 On page 4, line 19, after the semicolon,
13
14 insert:
15 amending s. 489.516, F.S.; exempting certain
16 electrical and alarm system contractors from
17 ordinances or codes of local governments or
18 special districts requiring various types of
19 recognition by certain national entities;
20 authorizing local governments or special
21 districts to require such contractors to
22 provide certain documentation at the final
23 inspection of an alarm system; reserving the
24 authority of local governments and special
25 districts to require compliance with the
26 Florida Fire Prevention Code and NFPA No. 72;
