11  Senator Wise moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment 
14         On page 2, lines 18-31, delete those lines
15  
16  and insert:  
17         (1)  It is the intent of the Legislature to prevent
18  vehicular fatalities by prioritizing enforcement on segments
19  of highways that have a high incidence of speeding-related
20  crashes. Enforcement shall also be prioritized during the
21  times that speeding-related crashes most often occur. The
22  enforcement of these zones shall be in a way that maximizes
23  public safety.
24         (2)  No later than July 1, 2007, the Department of
25  Transportation shall identify enhanced penalty zones on state
26  roads in Brevard, Duval, and Palm Beach Counties as a pilot
27  program in an effort to reduce speeding-related crashes on
28  state roads. This pilot program shall stand repealed July 1,
29  2010, unless reviewed and saved from repeal through
30  reenactment by the Legislature.
