11  The Committee on Education Appropriations (Wise) recommended
12  the following amendment:

14         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
15         On page 76, between lines 28 and 29,
16  
17  insert:  
18         Section 39.  Paragraph (a) of subsection (2) of section
19  1006.20, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
20         1006.20  Athletics in public K-12 schools.--
21         (2)  ADOPTION OF BYLAWS.--
22         (a)  The organization shall adopt bylaws that, unless
23  specifically provided by statute, establish eligibility
24  requirements for all students who participate in high school
25  athletic competition in its member schools. The provisions of
26  the bylaws that govern governing residence and transfer shall
27  allow the student to be eligible at all levels of athletics in
28  the school in which he or she first enrolls each school year,
29  or makes himself or herself a candidate for an athletic team
30  by engaging in a practice prior to enrolling in any member
31  school. The student shall be eligible in that school so long

 1  as he or she remains enrolled in that school. Subsequent The
 2  eligibility of students who transfer during the school year
 3  shall be governed by determined and enforced through the
 4  organization's bylaws.
