11 Senator Wilson moved the following amendment:

14 On page 26, lines 7-18, delete those lines

16 and insert: school enrollment.
17 1. Beginning in the 2007-2008 school year, a student
18 who withdraws from a public school for reasons other than
19 graduating or transferring to another school within or outside
20 the state must have an exit interview with a counselor who
21 presents the student with information concerning:
22 a. The value of a high school education, both
23 financial and cultural;
24 b. The alternative assessments, such as the SAT and
25 the ACT, the scores of which could help the student obtain a
26 high school diploma; and
27 c. The postsecondary options that are available,
28 including workforce training and enrolling in a community
29 college or a university, and the prerequisites to each, with
30 or without a diploma. The instruction must include a detailed
31 discussion of the relative advantages and disadvantages of

3 determine where the student plans to go, and the school must
4 assign to the student a counselor who will serve as a resource
5 for educational information until he or she attains the age of
6 18 years.

11 On page 3, line 4, after the first semicolon,

13 insert:
14 requiring that a counselor present specified
15 information to such a student and assign to the
16 student a followup counselor who will provide
17 educational information until he or she is 18
