12 Appropriations (Fasano) recommended the following amendment:

14 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
15 On page 3, between lines 17 and 18,

17 insert:
18 Section 4. (1) Each district school board and county
19 supervisor of elections may cooperate to provide voter
20 education to high school students who are in grade 12. The
21 voter education may be in the form of a presentation and is
22 voluntary for public high schools and nonpublic high schools.
23 Each supervisor of elections may conduct the presentation for
24 the public high schools and, upon request, for the nonpublic
25 high schools.
26 (2) If provided, the voter education must include
27 information concerning:
28 (a) How to register and preregister to vote.
29 (b) The operation of voting machines.
30 (c) How, when, and where to vote.
31 (d) The importance of voting.

1 (3) If provided, the voter education program must
2 provide students with the opportunity, sufficient information,
3 and sufficient time to complete and hand in to the supervisor
4 of elections applications for voter registration.
5 (4) If provided, the voter education program shall be
6 conducted during school hours each term of the school year in
7 order to reach a maximum number of students in the most
8 effective and efficient manner.
9 (5) If voter education is provided, a student may not
10 be excluded from the voter education program due to an
11 irregular class schedule, and students enrolled in a magnet
12 school must be provided the same opportunity for voter
13 education.

22 insert:
23 authorizing district school boards and county

27 content of the educational program; requiring
28 that the program of voter education be
29 conducted during school hours;
