14 On page 5, between lines 19 and 20,

16 insert:
17 Section 1. Section 381.0304, Florida Statutes, is
18 created to read:
19 381.0304 Supply and distribution of physicians;
20 reports.--The Division of Health Access and Tobacco of the
21 Department of Health shall monitor, evaluate, and report on
22 the supply and distribution of allopathic physicians licensed
23 under chapter 458 and osteopathic physicians licensed under
24 chapter 459 in this state. The division shall develop a
25 strategy to track and analyze, on an ongoing basis, the
26 distribution of state-licensed physicians by specialty and
27 geographic location using data that are available from public
28 and private sources. The division shall develop a strategy to
29 track and analyze on an ongoing basis the relationship of
30 undergraduate and graduate medical education to the state's
31 physician workforce, the number of medical students and

1 medical residents in the state, the number of medical students
2 and medical residents who are considered in-state residents,
3 the number of medical students in the state who are placed in
4 Florida-based residency programs, and the number of physicians
5 who complete their residency in the state and continue to
6 practice in the state. For the purpose of tracking and
7 analyzing medical education, the division shall use data that
8 are available from public and private sources, such as the
9 Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or
10 American Osteopathic Association. The division shall submit a
11 report to the Governor, the President of the Senate, and the
12 Speaker of the House of Representatives by February 1, 2008,
13 and annually thereafter.
