1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to the Pinellas County Tourist
3 Development Council, Pinellas County; amending
4 chapter 2001-307, Laws of Florida; revising the
5 membership of the council; providing the
6 effective date for such changes in council
7 membership; providing an effective date.

9 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11 Section 1. Section 1 of chapter 2001-307, Laws of
12 Florida, is amended to read:
13 Section 1. Pinellas County Tourist Development
14 Council; composition.--Notwithstanding the provisions of
15 section 125.0104(4)(e), Florida Statutes, the Pinellas County
16 Tourist Development Council as established by Pinellas County
17 ordinance pursuant to section 125.0104, Florida Statutes, the
18 "Local Option Tourist Development Act," shall be composed of
19 12 11 members who shall be appointed by the Pinellas County
20 Board of County Commissioners. The chair of the Pinellas
21 County Board of County Commissioners or any other member as
22 designated by the chair shall serve on the council. Four Three
23 members of the council shall be elected municipal officials,
24 one of whom shall be from the most populous municipality in
25 Pinellas County, one of whom shall be from the municipality in
26 which the greatest percentage of tourist development tax
27 revenue is generated in Pinellas County, and at least one of
28 whom shall be from among the cities of Belleair Beach,
29 Belleair Shore, Indian Rocks Beach, Indian Shores, Madeira
30 Beach, North Redington Beach, Redington Beach, Redington
31 Shores, St. Pete Beach, and Treasure Island, and one of whom

1 shall be from a city in Pinellas County that is not
2 specifically named in this section. Seven members of the
3 council shall be persons who are involved in the tourist
4 industry and who have demonstrated an interest in tourist
5 development, of which members, not less than three nor more
6 than four shall be owners or operators of motels, hotels,
7 recreational vehicle parks, or other tourist accommodations in
8 the county and subject to the tax. All members of the council
9 shall be electors of the county. The changes in the
10 composition of the membership of the Pinellas County Tourist
11 Development Council mandated by this act are effective October
12 1, 2006 2001, and shall not cause the interruption of the
13 current term of any person who is a member of the Pinellas
14 County Tourist Development Council on October 1, 2006 2001.
15 Except as specifically provided herein, the provisions of
16 section 125.0104(4)(e), Florida Statutes, shall apply to the
17 Pinellas County Tourist Development Council.
18 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
19 law.
