1 Senate Resolution
2 A resolution recognizing the 20th Anniversary
3 of the Shriners Hospital for Children in Tampa,
4 Florida.

6 WHEREAS, in 1985 the Shriners Hospital for Children in
7 Tampa, Florida, opened its doors to care for children with
8 orthopaedic conditions, and
9 WHEREAS, the hospital is a 60-bed pediatric orthopaedic
10 hospital providing comprehensive orthopaedic care to children
11 at no charge, without regard to race, religion, or
12 relationship to a Shriner, and
13 WHEREAS, the hospital is designed to incorporate
14 state-of-the-art equipment and advanced treatment programs
15 with the Shriners Hospitals' family-centered approach to care,
16 and
17 WHEREAS, the hospital maintains a teaching affiliation
18 with the University of South Florida, and
19 WHEREAS, the hospital staff is dedicated to helping
20 young patients develop their capabilities at all levels -
21 physically, emotionally, and intellectually - so they can lead
22 fuller, more productive lives, and
23 WHEREAS, the hospital is involved in ongoing research
24 and is tackling the questions of musculoskeletal diseases of
25 children, and
26 WHEREAS, the hospital has spent more than $300 million
27 dollars in the past 20 years on medical treatment, salaries,
28 and services to the community, and
29 WHEREAS, the hospital has provided care to more than
30 35,000 of Florida's children in the past 20 years and will
31 care for more and more children in the future, NOW, THEREFORE,

1 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

3 That the Florida Senate commends and celebrates the
4 20th Anniversary of the Shriners Hospital for Children in
5 Tampa, Florida.
