  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to automated external

  3         defibrillators; requiring certain high schools

  4         to have a defibrillator on the school grounds;

  5         encouraging public and private partnerships to

  6         cover certain costs associated with

  7         defibrillators; providing an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10  

11         Section 1.  Each high school that is a member of the

12  Florida High School Athletic Association shall have an

13  operational defibrillator on the high school grounds. Public

14  and private partnerships are encouraged to cover the cost

15  associated with the purchase and placement of the

16  defibrillator and training in the use of the defibrillator.

17         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.

19          STATEMENT OF SUBSTANTIAL CHANGES CONTAINED IN
                       COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR
20                         Senate Bill 248

22  The committee substitute requires each high school that is a
    member of the Florida High School Athletic Association to have
23  an operational automated external defibrillator on the high
    school grounds. The bill encourages public/private
24  partnerships to cover the cost associated with the training,
    purchase and placement of an automated external defibrillator.
