  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to automated external

  3         defibrillators; requiring certain high schools

  4         to have an automated external defibrillator on

  5         the school grounds; encouraging public and

  6         private partnerships to cover certain costs

  7         associated with automated external

  8         defibrillators; providing an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11  

12         Section 1.  Each high school that is a member of the

13  Florida High School Athletic Association shall have an

14  operational automated external defibrillator on the high

15  school grounds. Public and private partnerships are encouraged

16  to cover the cost associated with the purchase and placement

17  of the automated external defibrillator and training in the

18  use of the automated external defibrillator.

19         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.

24  The Committee Substitute replaces the term "defibrillator"
    with the term "automated external defibrillator."
