11  The Committee on Judiciary (Baker) recommended the following
12  amendment to amendment (860638):

14         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
15         On page 6, between lines 2 and 3,
16  
17  insert:  
18         Section 6.  Subsection (5) is added to section 489.516,
19  Florida Statutes, to read:
20         489.516  Qualifications to practice; restrictions;
21  prerequisites.--
22         (5)  Notwithstanding any provision to the contrary, a
23  Certified Electrical Contractor, Certified Alarm System
24  Contractor I, Certified Alarm System Contractor II, Registered
25  Alarm System Contractor I, or Registered Alarm System
26  Contractor II, certified or registered under this part, for
27  the purpose of permitting, installing, modifying, maintaining,
28  or monitoring alarm systems, is exempt from any local law,
29  ordinance, or code that requires a contractor to be listed or
30  placarded by a nationally recognized testing laboratory or
31  certified by any regionally or nationally recognized

 1  certification organization. Any person performing work within
 2  the scope of work of the contractors referenced in this
 3  subsection must be certified or registered under this part.

10         On page 6, line 26, after the second semicolon,

12  insert:
13         amending s. 489.516, F.S.; providing that
14         certain specified contractors are exempt from
15         any local law, ordinance, or code that requires
16         a contractor to be either listed or placarded
17         by a nationally recognized testing laboratory
18         or certified by any regionally or nationally
19         recognized certification organization;
