1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to campaign contributions;
3 amending s. 106.08, F.S.; prohibiting
4 legislators, statewide officeholders, and
5 certain candidates from soliciting or accepting
6 contributions to or on behalf of a political
7 committee, committee of continuous existence,
8 electioneering communications organization, or
9 s. 527 organization and from controlling or
10 coordinating or consulting with any such
11 committee or organization, with specified
12 exceptions; providing penalties; providing an
13 effective date.

15 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

17 Section 1. Paragraph (c) is added to subsection (7) of
18 section 106.08, Florida Statutes, to read:
19 106.08 Contributions; limitations on.--
20 (7)
21 (c) A member of the Legislature, a statewide
22 officeholder, or a candidate for legislative or statewide
23 office may not, directly or indirectly, solicit, cause to be
24 solicited, or accept any contribution to or on behalf of a
25 political committee, committee of continuous existence,
26 electioneering communications organization, or, except for a
27 political party or campaign of the candidate, any organization
28 described under s. 527 of the Internal Revenue Code, and may
29 not control or coordinate or consult with any such committee
30 or organization. Notwithstanding any other provision of this
31 chapter, any person who knowingly and willfully violates any

1 provision of this paragraph commits a felony of the third
2 degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or
3 s. 775.084.
4 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.
