9 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
10 |

11 | Section 1. Subsection (12) of section 790.06, Florida |
12 | Statutes, is amended to read: |
13 | 790.06 License to carry concealed weapon or firearm.-- |
14 | (12) No license issued pursuant to this section shall |
15 | authorize any person to carry a concealed weapon or firearm into |
16 | any place of nuisance as defined in s. 823.05; any seaport; any |
17 | police, sheriff, or highway patrol station; any detention |
18 | facility, prison, or jail; any courthouse; any courtroom, except |
19 | that nothing in this section would preclude a judge from |
20 | carrying a concealed weapon or determining who will carry a |
21 | concealed weapon in his or her courtroom; any polling place; any |
22 | meeting of the governing body of a county, public school |
23 | district, municipality, or special district; any meeting of the |
24 | Legislature or a committee thereof; any school, college, or |
25 | professional athletic event not related to firearms; any school |
26 | administration building; any portion of an establishment |
27 | licensed to dispense alcoholic beverages for consumption on the |
28 | premises, which portion of the establishment is primarily |
29 | devoted to such purpose; any elementary or secondary school |
30 | facility; any career center; any college or university facility |
31 | unless the licensee is a registered student, employee, or |
32 | faculty member of such college or university and the weapon is a |
33 | stun gun or nonlethal electric weapon or device designed solely |
34 | for defensive purposes and the weapon does not fire a dart or |
35 | projectile; inside the passenger terminal and sterile area of |
36 | any airport, provided that no person shall be prohibited from |
37 | carrying any legal firearm into the terminal, which firearm is |
38 | encased for shipment for purposes of checking such firearm as |
39 | baggage to be lawfully transported on any aircraft; or any place |
40 | where the carrying of firearms is prohibited by federal law. Any |
41 | person who willfully violates any provision of this subsection |
42 | commits a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable as |
43 | provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083. |
44 | Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2006. |
