A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to license to carry a concealed weapon or
3firearm; amending s. 790.06, F.S.; providing that a
4license to carry a concealed weapon or firearm does not
5authorize any person to carry a concealed weapon or
6firearm into a seaport; providing a penalty; providing an
7effective date.

9Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11     Section 1.  Subsection (12) of section 790.06, Florida
12Statutes, is amended to read:
13     790.06  License to carry concealed weapon or firearm.--
14     (12)  No license issued pursuant to this section shall
15authorize any person to carry a concealed weapon or firearm into
16any place of nuisance as defined in s. 823.05; any seaport; any
17police, sheriff, or highway patrol station; any detention
18facility, prison, or jail; any courthouse; any courtroom, except
19that nothing in this section would preclude a judge from
20carrying a concealed weapon or determining who will carry a
21concealed weapon in his or her courtroom; any polling place; any
22meeting of the governing body of a county, public school
23district, municipality, or special district; any meeting of the
24Legislature or a committee thereof; any school, college, or
25professional athletic event not related to firearms; any school
26administration building; any portion of an establishment
27licensed to dispense alcoholic beverages for consumption on the
28premises, which portion of the establishment is primarily
29devoted to such purpose; any elementary or secondary school
30facility; any career center; any college or university facility
31unless the licensee is a registered student, employee, or
32faculty member of such college or university and the weapon is a
33stun gun or nonlethal electric weapon or device designed solely
34for defensive purposes and the weapon does not fire a dart or
35projectile; inside the passenger terminal and sterile area of
36any airport, provided that no person shall be prohibited from
37carrying any legal firearm into the terminal, which firearm is
38encased for shipment for purposes of checking such firearm as
39baggage to be lawfully transported on any aircraft; or any place
40where the carrying of firearms is prohibited by federal law. Any
41person who willfully violates any provision of this subsection
42commits a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable as
43provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.
44     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.
