1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to defibrillators in state
3 parks; creating s. 258.0165, F.S.; encouraging
4 state parks to have a functioning automated
5 external defibrillator; requiring training,
6 maintenance, and location registration;
7 providing immunity from liability under the
8 Good Samaritan Act and the Cardiac Arrest
9 Survival Act; authorizing the Division of
10 Recreation and Parks to adopt rules; providing
11 an appropriation; providing an effective date.

13 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15 Section 1. Section 258.0165, Florida Statutes, is
16 created to read:
17 258.0165 Defibrillators in state parks.--
18 (1) Each state park is encouraged to have on the
19 premises at all times a functioning automated external
20 defibrillator.
21 (2) State parks that provide automated external
22 defibrillators shall ensure that employees and volunteers are
23 properly trained in accordance with s. 401.2915.
24 (3) The location of each automated external
25 defibrillator shall be registered with a local emergency
26 medical services medical director.
27 (4) The use of automated external defibrillators by
28 employees and volunteers shall be covered under the provisions
29 of ss. 768.13 and 768.1325.

1 (5) The Division of Recreation and Parks may adopt
2 rules pursuant to ss. 120.536(1) and 120.54 to implement the
3 provisions of this section.
4 Section 2. The sum of $92,000 is appropriated from the
5 General Revenue Fund to the Division of Recreation and Parks
6 of the Department of Environmental Protection for the purpose
7 of implementing this act during the 2006-2007 fiscal year. The
8 division shall arrange for the purchase of as many automated
9 external defibrillators as may be purchased with this
10 appropriation.
11 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.
