1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to the City of Lauderhill,
3 Broward County; extending and enlarging the
4 corporate limits of the City of Lauderhill to
5 include specific unincorporated lands within
6 said corporate limits; providing for transfer
7 of public roads and rights-of-way; providing
8 for powers and services over annexed area;
9 providing for continuation of contracts in
10 effect prior to annexation; providing an
11 effective date.

13 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
14
15 Section 1. The present corporate limits of the City of
16 Lauderhill, Broward County, are hereby extended and enlarged
17 so as to include, in addition to the territory presently
18 within its corporate limits, the area consisting of a portion
19 of Sunrise Boulevard, particularly described as follows:
20
21 That portion of Sunrise Boulevard in Section
22 31, Township 49 South, Range 42 East, Broward
23 County, Florida, described as follows:
24
25 BEGINNING at the South One-Quarter (S 1/4)
26 corner of said Section 31, said point being on
27 the municipal boundary of the City of
28 Lauderhill, as established by Ordinance No.
29 040-10-219;

1 THENCE Westerly along said municipal boundary
2 and the South line of said Section 31 to a
3 point of intersection with the East line of the
4 Southwest One-Quarter (SW 1/4) of the Southeast
5 One-Quarter (SE 1/4) of the Southwest
6 One-Quarter (SW 1/4) of said Section 31, said
7 point being on the municipal boundary of the
8 City of Lauderhill, as established by Ordinance
9 No. 80;

11 THENCE Northerly along said East line and said
12 municipal boundary to a point of intersection
13 with the centerline of Sunrise Boulevard, as
14 shown on the plats of THUNDERBIRD SWAP SHOP I
15 and THUNDERBIRD SWAP SHOP II, as respectively
16 recorded in Plat Book 139, Page 2 and Plat Book
17 143, Page 47, of the Public Records of Broward
18 County, Florida;

20 THENCE Easterly along said centerline to a
21 point of intersection with the Southerly
22 prolongation of the East line of COSTOYA PLAT,
23 according to the plat thereof, as recorded in
24 Plat Book 142, Page 20, of the Public Records
25 of Broward County, Florida, said point being on
26 the municipal boundary of the City of
27 Lauderhill, as established by Ordinance No.
28 04-10-217;

30 THENCE continuing Easterly along said
31 centerline and said municipal boundary to a

2 prolongation of the West line of THUNDERBIRD
3 SWAP SHOP III, according to the plat thereof,
4 as recorded in Plat Book 142, Page 20, of the
5 Public Records of Broward County, Florida;

7 THENCE Southerly along said Northerly
8 prolongation and said municipal boundary to a
9 point on the South line of said Section 31,
10 said point being on the municipal boundary of
11 the City of Lauderhill, as established by
12 Ordinance No. 040-10-219;

14 THENCE Westerly along said South line and said
15 municipal boundary to the POINT OF BEGINNING.

17 Section 2. The present corporate limits of the City of
18 Lauderhill, Broward County, are hereby extended and enlarged
19 so as to also include, in addition to the territory presently
20 within its corporate limits and the area described in section
21 1, the area consisting of a portion of N.W. 31st Avenue,
22 particularly described as follows:

24 That portion of Section 5, Township 50 South,
25 Range 42 East, Broward County, Florida,
26 described as follows:

28 BEGINNING at the point of intersection of the
29 West line of said Section 5 with the North line
30 of the Southwest One-Quarter (SW 1/4), of the
31 Southwest One-Quarter (SW 1/4), of the

7 municipal boundary to a point on the municipal
8 boundary of the City of Lauderhill, as
9 established by Ordinance No. 04-10-217;

11 THENCE Easterly along said municipal boundary
12 to a point on the centerline of NW 31 Avenue as
13 shown on State of Florida Project No.
14 86502-3615 and as shown on ALL SERVICE PLAT NO.
15 ONE, according to the plat thereof, as recorded
16 in Plat Book 163, Page 43 of the Public Records
17 of Broward County, Florida;

19 THENCE Southerly along said centerline to a
20 point on the North line of the Southwest
21 One-Quarter (SW 1/4), of the Southwest
22 One-Quarter (SW 1/4), of the Northwest
23 One-Quarter (NW 1/4) of said Section 5;

25 THENCE Westerly along said North line to the
26 POINT OF BEGINNING.

2 (Sunshine State Parkway) that runs through the City of
3 Lauderhill, particularly described as follows:

5 Portions of Sections 23, 24 and 26, of Township
6 49 South, Range 41 East, being more
7 particularly described as follows:

9 BEGINNING at the intersection of the North line
10 of said Section 23 with the Northerly
11 projection of the West Right-of-Way line of
12 Florida Turnpike (Sunshine State Parkway), said
13 point being on the Corporate City limits of the
14 City of Lauderhill established by Chapter
15 61-2387 (Senate Bill No. 953) of the Laws of
16 Florida and the Corporate City limits of the
17 City of Tamarac according to Ordinance 72-21;

19 Thence on said municipal boundary of the City
20 of Tamarac according to Ordinance 72-21, East
21 on the North line of said Section 23 to the
22 Northeast corner of said Section 23;

9 quarters (S 3/4) of the Southeast quarter (SE
10 1/4) of said Section 26 to the intersection
11 with the West right of way line of the Florida
12 Turnpike (Sunshine State Parkway), said point
13 being on the Corporate City limits of the City
14 of Lauderhill as established by Chapter 59-1487
15 (House Bill No. 2317) of the Laws of Florida;

17 Thence on said municipal boundary of the City
18 of Lauderhill as established by Chapter 61-2387
19 (Senate Bill No. 953) and Chapter 59-1487
20 (House Bill No. 2317) of the Laws of Florida,
21 North on the West right of way line of the
22 Florida Turnpike (Sunshine State Parkway) to
23 the intersection with the North line of said
24 Section 23, said point also being the POINT OF

28 Lauderhill, Broward County, are hereby extended and enlarged
29 so as to also include, in addition to the territory presently
30 within its corporate limits and the areas described in
31 sections 1 through 3, a small commercial property abutting

1 Sunrise Boulevard to avoid the creation of an enclave,
2 particularly described as follows:

4 That portion of Section 31, Township 49 South,
5 Range 42 East, Broward County, Florida,
6 described as follows:

8 BEGINNING at the Northwest corner of COSTOYA
9 PLAT, according to the plat thereof, as
10 recorded in Plat Book 143, Page 50, of the
11 Public Records of Broward County, Florida, said
12 point being on the municipal boundary of the
13 City of Lauderhill, as established by Ordinance
14 No. 04-10-217;

16 THENCE Easterly along the North line of said
17 plat and along said municipal boundary to the
18 Northeast corner of said plat;

20 THENCE Southerly along the East line of said
21 plat and along said municipal boundary to the
22 centerline of Sunrise Boulevard, as shown on
23 THUNDERBIRD SWAP SHOP II, according to the plat
24 thereof, as recorded in Plat Book 143, Page 47,

2 established by Ordinance No. 80;

4 THENCE Northerly along said prolongation and
5 said West line and along said municipal
6 boundary to the POINT OF BEGINNING.

8 Section 5. All public roads and the public
9 rights-of-way associated therewith, on the Broward County road
10 system, lying within the limits of the lands subject to
11 annexation herein, are transferred from Broward County
12 jurisdiction to the jurisdiction of the annexing municipality.
13 Section 6. On the effective date of this act, the City
14 of Lauderhill shall be responsible for and embodied with all
15 municipal powers granted in chapter 166, Florida Statutes,
16 including, but not limited to, police powers and fire and
17 emergency services, over territory hereby annexed.
18 Section 7. Nothing in this act shall be construed to
19 affect or abrogate the rights of parties to any contracts, or
20 between nongovernmental entities, which contracts are in
21 effect prior to the effective date of the annexation.
22 Section 8. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
23 law.
