  1                        Senate Resolution

  2         A resolution expressing affection for and

  3         gratitude to all fathers.

  4  

  5         WHEREAS, Sunday, June 18, 2006, has been designated as

  6  Father's Day in the United States, and

  7         WHEREAS, the greatest education in honesty, decency,

  8  integrity, industry, and fidelity is to see these qualities

  9  embodied in the life and works of a parent, and

10         WHEREAS, the American tradition of a productive society

11  and a secure home has depended in great part on the hard work

12  and sacrifice of fathers who tirelessly seek for their

13  children a better life and greater opportunity than they knew,

14  and

15         WHEREAS, fulfilling the demanding roles of fatherhood,

16  as provider, teacher, role model, comforter, and protector, is

17  an act of true heroism in today's world, and

18         WHEREAS, each new generation looks to its fathers for

19  courage, strength, and understanding, and

20         WHEREAS, the enduring affection between a father and

21  his family is recognized and appreciated as one of the most

22  positive elements upon which our future as a nation depends,

23  and

24         WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that the members

25  and staff of the Florida Senate recognize the immeasurable

26  debt of gratitude owed to fathers for their strength,

27  guidance, understanding, and love, NOW, THEREFORE,

29  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

 1         That the members of the Florida Senate do hereby

 2  express to their own fathers and to all fathers, on behalf of

 3  the people of the State of Florida, deep personal affection

 4  and abiding gratitude.

 5         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread

 6  upon the Journal of the Senate as a tangible token of the love

 7  and respect that the members hold for all fathers.
