1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to the Sunshine Water Control
3 District, Broward County; repealing chapter
4 63-609, Laws of Florida, the enacting law of
5 the district, and providing for incorporation
6 thereof as an ordinance of the City of Coral
7 Springs; providing for classification and
8 status of the district; providing for election
9 or appointment of supervisors; providing for
10 approval of the budget of the district;
11 providing for powers and responsibilities of
12 the district; providing an effective date.

14 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
15
16 Section 1. Chapter 63-609, Laws of Florida, is hereby
17 repealed, except that said special act is hereby declared to
18 be an ordinance of the City of Coral Springs subject to the
19 procedure of amendment and repeal as any other duly enacted
20 ordinance of the City of Coral Springs in conformance with
21 this act.
22 Section 2. Notwithstanding chapter 298, Florida
23 Statutes, upon the expiration of the term of any supervisor of
24 the Sunshine Water Control District, the City of Coral Springs
25 may provide for the election or appointment of a replacement
26 supervisor by ordinance of the City of Coral Springs.
27 Section 3. Notwithstanding anything contained in
28 chapter 63-609, Laws of Florida, any budget of the Sunshine
29 Water Control District approved subsequent to the effective
30 date of this act shall be approved by the City of Coral
31 Springs pursuant to the procedures provided for in chapters

1 189 and 200, Florida Statutes, and in compliance with the
2 Charter of the City of Coral Springs.
3 Section 4. Subsequent to the effective date of this
4 act, the Sunshine Water Control District shall be determined
5 to be a dependent special district of the City of Coral
6 Springs.
7 Section 5. Nothing in this act shall preclude the
8 Sunshine Water Control District from using any power contained
9 in chapter 298, Florida Statutes, except as provided in this
10 act.
11 Section 6. All title to property, uncollected taxes
12 and assessments, judgments, causes of action, and property
13 rights held or owned by the Sunshine Water Control District
14 shall continue to be vested in the Sunshine Water Control
15 District, and no obligations or contracts, including bonds or
16 causes of action, shall be impaired or avoided by this act.
17 All contracts, franchises, and permits to do business issued
18 by the Sunshine Water Control District shall remain in full
19 force and effect according to their terms.
20 Section 7. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
21 law.
