  1                        Senate Resolution

  2         A resolution recognizing Bill Noriega and his

  3         family on the 50th Anniversary of Bill's

  4         Prescription Center in Brandon.

  5  

  6         WHEREAS, Bill's Prescription Center began its 50-year

  7  history of community service and success as a family-owned

  8  business in 1956, when Bill Noriega borrowed $1,000 to start

  9  the pharmacy with his father, and

10         WHEREAS, at that time much of Brandon consisted of

11  pastures, and the store identified its address in newspaper

12  ads as the intersection of "the stoplight and Highway 60," and

13         WHEREAS, a great deal has changed in Brandon in the 50

14  years since then, but Bill's Prescription Center has continued

15  to provide the same excellent personal and supportive service

16  established by Bill at the outset, and

17         WHEREAS, the store's trademarks are still service and

18  hard work, and the entire Noriega family has become involved

19  as Bill and Marie Noriega's five children have grown up to

20  carry on the family tradition, and

21         WHEREAS, today John Noriega and his sister Mary Louise

22  work in the pharmacy, brothers Bill and Albert work next door

23  at Brandon Brace, which supplies clients with wheelchairs,

24  walkers, and other medical supplies, and sister Felicia runs

25  LifeShapes Boutiques, which provides mastectomy prosthetics,

26  comfort clothing, and other health-related products, and

27         WHEREAS, Bill's Prescription Center celebrated its 50th

28  Anniversary on March 4 with a Health Fair, and the event grew

29  to a community celebration of a family business that has

30  established a community tradition--and that still delivers,

31  NOW, THEREFORE,

 1  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

 2  

 3         That the Senate congratulates and commends the Noriega

 4  family on the business skills, family values, and commitment

 5  to excellence that have brought Bill's Prescription Center to

 6  its celebrated 50th Anniversary.

 7         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,

 8  with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to the

 9  Noriega family as a token of the sentiments of the Florida

10  Senate.
