11  The Committee on Banking and Insurance (Fasano) recommended
12  the following amendment to amendment (165004):

14         Senate Amendment 
15         On page 9, between lines 2 and 3,
16  
17  insert:  
18         (14)  If the neutral evaluator first verifies the
19  existence of a sinkhole and, second, recommends the need for
20  and estimates costs of stabilizing the land and any covered
21  structures or buildings and other appropriate remediation or
22  structural repairs, which costs exceed the amount that the
23  insurer has offered to pay the policyholder, the insurer is
24  liable to the policyholder for up to $2,500 in attorney's fees
25  for the attorney's participation in the neutral evaluation
26  process. For purposes of this subsection, the term "offer to
27  pay" means a written offer signed by the insurer or its legal
28  representative and delivered to the policyholder within 10
29  days after the insurer receives notice that a request for
30  neutral evaluation has been made under this section.
