  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to specialty license plates;

  3         amending s. 320.08058, F.S.; providing for the

  4         proceeds from the sale of Police Athletic

  5         League license plates to be distributed to the

  6         State of Florida Association of Police

  7         Athletic/Activities Leagues, Inc.; authorizing

  8         the use of a portion of such fees for

  9         administrative and promotional cost; providing

10         an effective date.

12  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13  

14         Section 1.  Subsection (16) of section 320.08058,

15  Florida Statutes, is amended to read:

16         320.08058  Specialty license plates.--

17         (16)  POLICE ATHLETIC LEAGUE LICENSE PLATES.--

18         (a)  The department shall develop a Police Athletic

19  League license plate as provided in this section to

20  commemorate the Police Athletic League in this state. The word

21  "Florida" must appear at the top of the plate, the words

22  "Police Athletic League" must appear at the bottom of the

23  plate, and a shield with the Police Athletic League logo must

24  appear to the left of the numerals.

25         (b)1.  The annual use fees shall be distributed to the

26  State of Florida Association of Police Athletic/Activities

27  Leagues, Inc. Florida Police Athletic League, Inc.,

28         2.  The league may use a maximum of 15 percent of such

29  fees for administrative costs and a maximum of 10 percent to

30  market and promote the plate. The balance of such fees shall

31  be used to provide educational materials, athletic equipment,

 1  transportation, food, medical checkups, counseling,

 2  scholarships, and other direct expenses incurred by the league

 3  in conducting its youth programs.

 4         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.

 8    Provides that proceeds from the sale of Police Athletic
      League specialty license plates be distributed to the
 9    State of Florida Association of Police
      Athletic/Activities League, Inc. Authorizes the use of a
